Interval timer with in-camera wifi hangs

Post by mawes »

I am using QDD V3.5.3, a Nikon D5300 and an HP EliteBook Windows10 PC.

I start the in-camera wifi network and connect the PC to it. I then start QDD and
do a Nikon connect. Then I start the Nikon Life View from QDD. So far so good!

The next thing I do is to start the Interval Timer with the following settings:
- Frame Count0
- Interval 5min
- Bulb Time 1sec

The first capture is performed OK, but at the second shot, everything hangs and the
message "Capture in progress" is showing forever. It never recovers from that, so I
have to close everything down and start from the beginning again.

It does not matter which values I use, the result is always a forever hang...

What am I doing wrong?

OK, now I know what I did wrong:

Live View must be disabled and Host Mode should be enabled before starting the Interval Timer.
However, if you leave it in Camera Mode, QDD will automatically switch to Host Mode during each shot and then back to Camera Mode again.
This works the same wheter you use wifi or USB for the camera control.

When these conditions are fulfilled, the Interval Timer works absolutely flawless both via wifi and USB remote control! At least on a Windows 10 PC, but it probably work the same for android devices and other operatives as well.
