Connection lost with 3020 and Nikon D3100 + PC/Win10

Post by marcobee »

Hi,
I flashed the firmware in my new TP-Link 3020 following the very useful post https://dslrdashboard.info/tp-link-mr30 ... wrt-flash/ (obviously making use of the software for 3020, i.e. https://dslrdashboard.info/download/dds ... 0-factory/)

I was able to setup everything. Please note that I am using the PC version (on Windows 10) of dslrdashboard.
I can connect my Nikon D3100 and send commands.
The problem: every time I shoot a photo it loses the connection after having sent the command to the shutter. So I can't download any pic, and it pops up the initial connection box. The same happens after approx 30 secs whatever I am doing or also if i'm idling.
Thus I essentially can't use the app via WiFi.

If, instead, I use direct usb (cable) connection with exactly the same configuration, everything works fine.

I tried to change WiFi channel and to move the router in order to avoid eventual problems caused by surrounding nets, but nothing changed.

Could anyone give some useful advice?

Thanks

Add a stronger power source for the MR3020.
I had this problem while using 1A power source, with 2A had no problems

Hi hubaiz,
thx for the fast reply. Your suggestion sounds feasible. In fact I was using its own AC power adapter which drives 1A (according to the specs).

Then I tried an AI/QC AC adapter I already have, which drives up to 2.4A, but the problem was still there. Maybe disconnections are less frequent, but it always happen after I shot.
I am waiting to receive a USB multimeter to see the effective current (since it is an adaptive device, I cannot be sure of the current it "chose" to drive) but it appears unlikely for the current to be the problem.

Maybe the log could be useful?

Unfortunately, I must confirm that in my case the problem is not the current from power source: I used a 2A source (AC adapter as well) and the problem is still there.

=============
Also, I tried LAN connection between MR3020 and PC (to avoid at all eventual issues due to wi-fi) and the problem stays the same.
