Can't connect to WiFi device

Post by sidedraft »

My Tp-Link MR3040 V.2 has been successfully loaded with the OpenWRT firmware:
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-factory.bin.

The Luci interface comes up via cable and WiFi

I execute DIGICAMCONTROL on my Windows 7 64bit laptop, connect the TP-Link to my Nikon D5200.

When I try to connect to DSLRDASHBOARDSERVER at 192.168.1.1, I get this:

ERROR
Unable to connect to WiFi device No server was found

I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but something is wrong, any ideas or suggestions?

Did you use the OpenWrt image available at http://dslrdashboard.info/downloads/
with the ddserver package?
If you go the OepnWrt web interface under System->Software do you see the ddserver package.
Does 'DIGICAMCONTROL' work with ddserver? If you use that software it is best you ask on the DigicamControl developers site.

Yes I did download the package you referenced, and did the flashing. The TPlink wouldn't work for me on any software.
So in desperation I stuck in the Nikon WU-1a and to my surprise qDslrDashboard works like a champ.
I got the TP-Link because I read where the WU-1a only works with cell phones and some tablets.
Even the Nikon d5200 for Dummies book I bought says WU-1a won't work with a PC.
So I now use the WU-1a, and I will sell the TP-Link MR3040 on EBay.

Thanks for the reply, and for qDslrDashboard , it works great.

When you pair your device wireless with the MR3040 wireless in your web browser open the OpenWrt admin page at http://192.168.1.1
Do you get it?
Under System->Software check that you have the ddserver package (V0.2-13 )
Connect your DSLR to the MR3040 with USB and turn it on.
In the OpenWrt admin page open the Status->System log page and you should have something like this:

Code: Select all

May 15 10:20:14 Arduino kern.info kernel: [943001.910000] usb 1-1.1.3: new high-speed USB device number 73 using ehci-platform
May 15 10:20:15 Arduino kern.info kernel: [943002.020000] usb 1-1.1.3: New USB device found, idVendor=04b0, idProduct=0423
May 15 10:20:15 Arduino kern.info kernel: [943002.020000] usb 1-1.1.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
May 15 10:20:15 Arduino kern.info kernel: [943002.020000] usb 1-1.1.3: Product: NIKON DSC D5000
May 15 10:20:15 Arduino kern.info kernel: [943002.020000] usb 1-1.1.3: Manufacturer: NIKON
May 15 10:20:15 Arduino kern.info kernel: [943002.030000] usb 1-1.1.3: SerialNumber: 000006385695
Do you have that?
If you have all that then in qDD you should press the 'Network' button and qDD should connect to the DSLR,
or you long press the 'Network' button and enter the IP address (192.168.1.1 by default) and press the connect button

Well, miracle of miracles, by getting all of the files/instructions needed to use the TP-Link MR3040/OpenWRT from just one site[this one] everything now works just as advertised.

Thank you very much.
