No stabil connection with 5 DMarkiii and MacBook

Hello,
I have problems to connect my 5DMarkiii with ControlmyCamera APP 1.0.0 with USB on MacBook 2017 with OS 10.14.3.
At first it worked fine, after switch off the camera is not identified anymore. After a pause and several switch on/off the cam and reboot of the app it works again. Then same problem...
Can somebody help? Does it work with a wifi card? Is EOS utility on the Mac required?
What about an iPad about wifi? Is there a Canon App also needed?
