IOS Crashing

Post by Marco103 »

Hi there,

I'm using the TP-Link & Canon 7D.

The iPad app will work for a short while but crashes after using the lrtimelapse. When I restart the application all the controls on the right side vanish. The only solution I've found is to remove the app and reinstall.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

Marco

Do you use the qDD interval timer?
Do you use an external interval timer?
What is your slowest shutter speed and interval?

What you mean by 'controls on the right side vanish' ? If the application do crash and you restart you must establish again the connection with the camera with the 'Network' button in case of TP-Link.

Hi,

today I used qDD after a long winter-break .. and it crashed 3x after 304, 201 and 305 pictures .. qDD interval timer at 5s,3s & 20s ..

iPad (latest iOS, latest version), TP-Link (latest version) and an EOS 6D.

Any idea ?

So slowest shutter was 4s and you used interval was 5 s ?
Did you use the qDD interval timer or an external timer?

You must have around 3 second between the slowest shutter and your interval (depends on model and could be higher)
qDD needs some time to download the JPG file to analyze it and to make changes.
If there is not enough time it will not work and it can crash if your camera has many images in buffer.

If you used and external timer does it do the 'half press' only Canon DSLR. On Canon DSLR while the capture button is half pressed qDD can't make changes to shutter/iso. Some of the external interval timers do this (my does 3 sec before capture) so even if I leave 3 sec between the slowest shutter and my interval it will not work as the external interval timer will half press the capture button 3 second before capture and qDD can't make changes.

Hi again,

with the weather getting better, I was out testing .. with the same result .. qDD is crashing on my iPad after 70-110 frames ..

Here is my configuration:

- Canon EOS 6D, latest firmware, powered by battery-pack, RAW & JPEG M, SanDisk Ultra Class 10 SDHC

- TP-LINK TL-MR3040, latest firmware, powered by USB

- iPad mini 2 , latest iOS, latest qDD, powered by USB, no Auto-Lock, restarted with no other app running ..

Auto Holy Grail
Sunset
Slowest Shutter 5"
Max ISO 3200, Min ISO 100
qDD Timer: Frame count 400 , Interval 15s

a) started at 1/500s ISO 100, crashed after 70 frames at 1/50s f4 ISO 100

b) started at 0,5s ISO 100, crashed after 110 frames at 5s f4 ISO 640

c) changed to internal Wifi of the 6D .. started at 2,5s ISO 640, crashed after 71 frames at 4s ISO 640

.. any idea ?

Thanks,

Luc.

update:

I tried the same configuration again this morning with an external timer .. it made 250 frames without crashing .. qDD was not so busy ramping for the sunrise, only 3 shutter-changes ..

There is a bug in V0.2.7 that will manifest with some of the Canon DSLR and will probably crash qDD. The next version will fix this.
