Windows 10 + Dslrdashboard Are Not Friends

Post by rainwilds »

Hi there,

I am using the latest build of Windows 10 and have been trying to get Dslrdashboard to work with a Nikon D610 via USB without success. I can operate the camera fine and run live view, change settings and so on but when I capture an image it crashes after processing the photo.

I'm not sure if it's Windows 10 or something else. I've tried both versions 0.29 and 0.3.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
David

Try to disable 'image review' if it is enabled. Does that help?
Did qDD download any image? They should be in the 'local images folder' that you can check in qDD settings.

Cool! Disabling image review makes it take the shot. There were no images in that folder you mentioned. When I go to open the image after it records it crashes. What I'm thinking to do right now is to shoot in DslrDashboard and open the images in Lightroom.

Maybe not as cool as I thought. It takes the shot but the image cannot be located. See the screenshot below:

Can you try and change the save folder in settings (like c:\pics)

Windows 10 need some special permissions to write on system drive (more restrictive than windows 8.1)
Best way to avoid problems with this is to use other drives for saving photos.

Interestingly, I tried on my Surface which is also running Windows 10 and it works fine!

So I guess it has something to do with my desktop.. no idea what though.
