Hi, a really basic question here!!
I use QDSLR on my Android devices so thought give the Windows app a go but must be doing something wrong as when I unpack/extract it all I get is a folder full of 'STUFF' that I really do not understand, click on the QDSL icon in that pack and QDSLR starts, works fine, but do I have to run it from that extracted folder or should there be an icon on my desktop?

There is no installation of qDD on Windows so no icons on desktop unless you make one yourself.
Every application is run from it's folder on disk. Icons on desktop are just shortcuts/links to those applications.
