REconnecting qDD during Time-lapse not working

Post by ems-dop »

Hello,

the today released version of qDD iOS seems to work very stable.
Nevertheless I encountered a (to me) problem during some time-lapse testing:

What I like to do is starting a time-lapse sequence without qDD, simply classic with an "analogue" intervalometer.
(with attached TP-Link router)

After some time, I like to do a day2night transition, and for this transition I like to connect qDD (LRtimelapse window) for about an hour or two.
Once the transition is done I close the app and disconnect the iOS device and the camera goes on shooting the whole night, in the early morning I like to
reconnect again in order to do the night2day transition.

At the moment this seems to be impossible, if I start a TimeLapse shot with qDD I do can exit the app and walk away, but once I start to reconnect trouble founds me. The first time I try to reconnect the app crashes, after two or three times it connects to the camera but it's not possible to control the camera and it's not possible to enter the auto-holy-grail function within the LRTimelapse window. After closing the app, because it's not working, the camera hangs and it's only possible to go on shooting after removing the cameras battery for some seconds. This ruins a shot.

(Storing the images to the iOS device was disabled during testing.)

Will this be possible in the near future?
Should it be possible already?
Or is this simply a "abuse" of the app till now?

my set-up:
Canon 5D3 (1.2.3)
TP-LINK 3040 (PHOTECS version)
iPad Air2 (9.2.1)
qDD latest version from today

Many thanks from Munich,

Emanuel
