I am able to use the DSLRdashboard app on an iPad 2 to control my D800 via the modified TP-Link. What a wonderfully capable program DSLRdashboard is!!
But... while I can connect via wi-fi to the TP-Link from my iPhone 6 or my Windows laptop, DSLRdashboard on those two devices never connects to camera.
I am not trying to use multiple devices at the same time; just use DSLRdashboard on devices other than the iPad. Is it possible to use DSLRdashboard on devices other than the first one used? (For example, does the server software remember the MAC address of the first device to connect to it and thereafter not allow other devices to use the server? Just speculating as to possible causes.)

No, there are no limitations like this.
Every device can connect. I use 2 laptops, 2 tablets and 3 phones and every one connects with out problem.
Have you tried long press network button??
