Alternatives for TL MR-3040

Post by layaxx »

Hey,
I´ve a pretty hard time finding an TL MR-3040 here in Germany, for use with my EOS 600D.
Are there any other routers which would work as well?
Regards,

I had also difficulties to find a TP Link router.
I have found this project recently and I have managed to get it working on a Raspberry PI. ddserves is working as expected on a Raspberry PI 3.
I have performed my first tests with Nikon D800E and D4s cameras and DslrDashboard Application (Mac OS X and iPad) is working as expected.
I will modify the PI3 to add a power switch and a battery.

Hi!

I bought my TL MR-3040 from Photecs.de (via Amazon). Here's a link: http://photecs.de/kategorie/tablet/dslr ... ng-tablet/

Hope this helps! :)

Hi there,

I am new to this forum, so forgive me if this solution has been found elsewhere. I am a 52 year old programmer who simply has not got the time or inclination to trawl through the forum.

An alternative to the TP-Link TL-MR3040, which has been discontinued, is the TP-Link TL-MR3020. I can confirm that it works perfectly with my Canon 550D. Not only via WiFi, but over the wired LAN too, using qDSLR for windows. Not tried it with the Android app, but see no reason why it would not work, the same goes for the ipod.

It is quite simple to do the hack, and just takes about half an hour. The usual caveats apply, It works for me. If it doesn't for you or you brick the TL-MR3020, go and sit in a corner and think about what you did.

Here we go then.

1. Go to OpenWRT and download http://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos_calm ... actory.bin

2. Login to the TL-MR3020 using the web interface. Perform a firmware upgrade with the file downloaded above. THIS WILL CHANGE THE IP ADDRESS OF THE ROUTER TO 192.168.1.1 Make sure that is not in use at your site :) If it is Isolate the TL-MR3020. Once the install is done, I changed the IP address on the TL_MR3020.

3. Download this file from the nice people at Zadig, http://zadig.akeo.ie/downloads/zadig_2.2.exe Run the exe and install the driver.

4. Download the DDSERVER OpenWrt package updater (Windows) from http://dslrdashboard.info/download/ddse ... e-updater/

5. To use the above. Follow the instructions here..http://dslrdashboard.info/ddserver-package-updater/

6. Now download and install the qDSLR Program for Windows http://dslrdashboard.info/download/wind ... 5-1-x64-2/

7. If that went to plan, you should be ready to go. Plug in the Camera, and turn it on. Fire up the software, you will see a row of icons along the top.
The second one in that looks like a network, click and HOLD for a few seconds, and a dialog will appear. Enter the IP address of the TP-Link TL-MR3020.

That is it.
