Can't start DD under Ubuntu Mate

When I run the shell command on the terminal as per readme instructions all I get is is xcb
geo@geo-SK43V10:~/qDslrDashboard_V3.5.1_Linux_x86$ ./qDslrDashboard.sh
xcb
geo@geo-SK43V10:~/qDslrDashboard_V3.5.1_Linux_x86$
I notice that the software is extracted in a folder qDslrDashboard_V3.5.1_Linux_x86 under my user directory - is that right? So I have to cd to that folder before running the shell. Is that why it can't find the xcb plugin? I get the same results with the other suggested plugins: eglfs, minimal
