Nikon P900 USB OTG blank live view, crashes

Original problem:
When I try to connect the camera with the USB icon in the app, it crashes out of the app.

New problem:
The only way to get to Live View is to start the app fresh with the USB OTG cable unplugged. Then hit the USB icon in the app and a tray pops out indicating that it's looking for USB devices. Then plug in the USB and hit the USB icon again. After a second, it switches to what I presume is live view. The view is black and many of the settings and buttons don't seem to do anything.

If anyone knows how to get this to work on the P900, that would be great.

Device info:
Google Nexus 6P
Android 7.0
USB cable 1: type C male for the phone end to USB 2.0 female end.
USB cable 2: USB 2.0 male end to microUSB for the camera

There is no way to make it work with P900.
qDD works only with Nikon DSLRs.
