Looking for ideas for Something weird with Nikon D750

I have been trying to take pictures of Jupiter ... and I get a really clean visual view through the telescope (Meade 2080)... but I can't seem to not over expose it when I use my camera (Nikon D750). I could have sworn that I used qDSLR to set the ISO low (about 100-200) and the shutter speed near 1/200 s... but the picture is completely over exposed. I am looking at the pictures today and the ISO is 12800... (which would explain the over exposure). In fact, I know I tried a number of exposer conditions trying to not overexpose the picture but I never got it to work... To me this is an operator error. (I can get really nice shots of the moon... and deep space objects - just not Jupiter.)

Anyone have any ideas on what I am missing in the settings in qDSLR that would allow the camera to override qDSLR's settings?

Thanks!

Matthew

excluding the Hi values, d750's max iso is 12800...this is the default maximum sensitivity whenever auto iso is turned on...chances are auto iso was on...

I started thinking maybe I had an operator error. At least I got that part right.
