USB or HDMI from camera

USB hooked to my Nikon D5300 or Wifi does not give me good quality in live view. Should I get an HDMI mini cable and use that instead? I'm using live view and Ecamm (facebook live broadcaster) and I need better quality video on my MacBook Pro.

The live view maximum resolution is 640x480 for older Nikon DSLR
and 1024x768 for D5, D500 and D7500
qDslrDashboard will not work with a HDMI cable.

HDMI also won't work with MacBook. It does not have HDMI input. You will need external video capture device.
