Recording video on the D5300

Hello everyone!
Since I'm cheap I thought this program would be a good free alternative to buying an external monitor.
At the moment everything works, except for video recording. Going into Live View works but as soon as I press the button to start recording, the view freezes and the camera goes out of live view mode.
I'm using a Nikon D5300, running the program on OSX, connected using the built-in Wi-Fi. Camera is on firmware v1.01.
I read a couple of posts on this forum and understood that recording video would be possible on this camera.
Am I doing something wrong? Is it just not supported?
Any help would be gladly appreciated.
