OK. Many thanks to everyone who took the trouble to solve this mystery. Much appreciated. I plan to upgrade from the D3200 to a D7100 in the New Year, so hopefully these issues will not reoccur. If the Mods read these posts, it might be an idea to include some reference in the manual to the AF limit...

D3x00 series is not supported by Nikon API and has limited remote capability. Some functions just won't work or need special commands that are known to Nikon only. If you have Windows PC try digiCamControl if those functions work there. It's similar application but for windows only. Edit: Found on ...

Just a thought but do you have back button focus set on the camera? Russ I've tried with back button focus both off and on, but it makes no difference. If it's an added clue, I also noticed that apart from the touch focus not working, the +/- zoom buttons are also inactive. I just know that this is...

Hi, Not 100% sure here but!! I use a Canon 6D and a 600D and to move the focus point on my Nexus 7 I tap and hold on the screen to allow the software to catch up on what I want it to do (I do use a screen pen rather than a finger).
