What is speed of you CF card? Maybe your card speed too low. Try to use fastest card you can buy.
If still have problem you should try Andoird version. Andorid are more faster and realible wifi than IOS.

You will get 2s fastest interval with sony timelapse app.

I have same problem. My camera Sony A7R send jpg to tablet very slow. Even 2mp file with high speed SD card still get dark time 4-5s. Maybe you should try sony timelapse app. It work same way with bulb ramping device but only able to ramp shutter speed. You can do D2N almost no flicker with the app.

Maybe your 'dark time' is too short. Try to increase dark time to 4s -6s.

I have same problem sometime connection loss, sometime keep shooting but not adjust camera.
If i keep screen turn on it work fine but it drain battery a lot. It will be great if i can turn off screen to save battery.

Maybe you should your tablet in advance WLAN setting.
- Keep WLAN on during sleep = always
- uncheck WLAN optimization
