Control through Nikon's built-in WiFi

Post by xingr8 »

Hi Zoltan,

Would it be possible to allow qDSLR to control the newer Nikons that have built-in WiFi through their built-in link? This would save having to buy and maintain a TP-LINK TL-MR3040 or WU-1. One less battery to plug in every night and piece of gear to lug around. :D

I have just received my new Nikon D7200 and am looking forward to an update that will support it. Thanks for the good work.

You should open a new thread. qDslrDashboard is not open source.

I am unable to establish a wireless link to my D7200 at all. With a USB cable from my Android phone (Galaxy Note 4) qDD identifies my D7200, but none of the controls seem to work. Do I assume correctly that I need to wait for a new version of qDD that supports the D7200 before I should expect any more of qDD to work?

The D7200 is not yet support as Nikon didn't release the documentation for it.
If you can give me the USB vendor and product ID I may add initial support.
You can get this after connecting to a desktop machine and checking out the camera USB properties in device manager or with 'dmesg' or 'lsusb' on Linux

Dear Zoltan,

after conencting my nikon d5300, and if i minimize the qdashboarb(on android), i want the pictures taken by the cam to be automatically downloaded to sd card.

Is that option available? (coz right now when i maximize the qdashboad app then the pics are being downloaded to phone...)

hubaiz,

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this. Sometimes the day job gets in the way.

I have hooked up the the D7200 by USB with my Windows 7 PC and found it using Device Manager. There are a large number of items under the "Details" tab, but none specifically "USB Vendor" or "Product ID". The closest ones are:

Device description D7200
Hardware Ids USB\VID_04B0&PID_0439&REV_0100
USB\VID_04B0&PID_0439
Compatible Ids USB\Class_06&SubClass_01&Prot_01
USB\Class_06&SubClass_01
USB\Class_06
Device class guid {eec5ad98-8080-425f-922a-dabf3de3f69a}
Driver key {eec5ad98-8080-425f-922a-dabf3de3f69a}\0014
Manufacturer Nikon Corporation
Physical Device Object name \Device\USBPDO-8
Parent USB\VID_0451&PID_8043\300108497AA3
Siblings USB\VID_046D&PID_0825\1EC9E6A0
Matching device Id usb\class_06&subclass_01&prot_01

There are many more, so let me know if I have not hit on the ones you need. Hope that helps.

Here is a test build for Android: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxMZ8X ... sp=sharing

It should work with the D7200 built in wifi and also live view should work. Please test it.
When Nikon releases the documentation I will add the D7200 specific property values
