Controll the GUI with keyboard arrow keys or gamepad

i`m looking for a solution to controll the GUI not with a mouse or a toucscreen.
I run the programm on a raspberry pi.
The goal is it to controll the programm wit a gamepad or the arrow keys of a keyboard
I have already tried qjoypad 4.1 to use a gamepad like the arrow keys of a keyboard,
but it looks like the programm is not able to get controlled with a keyboard.
Is there any a solution for my problem?
