Magic Lantern Silent Picture Mode Support

Post by rawshark »

Hi Zoltan,

I would greatly appreciate it, if qdslrdashboard would support the Magic Lantern Full Resolution Silent Picture (FRSP) Module.

The FRSP is taking Full Resolution Pictures from the live view, without working the shutter, or any other mechanical action. Your shutter won't wear down when making Timelapse Sequences.

There are limits to this modes, as of not being able to have shutter speeds below 1/10 s.
It records either in dng single frames, or as a raw mlv sequence in full resolution.
But within it's range of application, it would be a great saving on camera mechanics.
This module is either triggered internally by the Magic Lantern Intervallometer, or by pressing the shutter button halfway.
Hints for ptp triggering i found on the forum:
please follow links in the post:

best regards

i love your work

Hi rawshark,

I already asked for this feature, too.
The technology is already there: If you press the AF button in qDD (which is a long half shutter press) my D550
takes a silent picture and performs an AF afterwards. So all we need is a button for short half shutter (so the
AF is not performed) and the option to toggle qDDs intervallometer from full shutter to half shutter.

Only LRTimelapse won't work as qDD can't analyse the file type generated by silent picture.

That feature would be nice, specially in some places doing timelapse.
