LRTimelapse - prevent overexposure

Post by phunthomas »

Hi,

when using the LRTimelapse holy grail function of qDSLRdashboard for sunset or sunrise I often run into the problem that small parts of the image close to the sun are overexposed from time to time as result of the ramping of ISO and exposure time.
As far as I understand the ramping is done using an average brightness of the whole image. However looking into an sunset the landscape gets darker and darker but the sun and clouds next to the are still very bright. Ramping up ISO and exposure time now will bring overexposed areas close to the sun. Postprocessing the timelapse with LRTimelapse and Lightroom results in "pulsing" overexpsoure.
Please check following timelapse https://vimeo.com/142011543 42s and onwards.

Would it be possible to an option that qDSLRdashboard uses not only average brightness but also a percentage of overexposed image size or similar for ramping?

I use Nikon D750 in case that matters.

cheers
Thomas
