D750, iOS v0.3.2 video fails

Post by mmckeag »

I installed iOS v0.3.2 on iPad yesterday and have been experimenting with D750. Software changes are well ahead of documentation so beyond a certain point I'm navigating without charts. Tried this sequence: Connect to camera, enable live view, enable host mode, enable video live view which displays video button, press video button to start recording, hear camera switch to recording, but iOS DslrDashboard app freezes, then looses WiFi connection and switches back to connection screen. Checking camera menu find camera WiFi disabled. I do find a very short video (a couple seconds) recorded and saved to SD card. Very excited about the potential of DslrDashboard. Its an ambitious project. Expecting to discover some rough spots, especially out at the frontiers.

Wireless and movie recording will not work at the same time.

Will it work if you put a TP-Link MR -3040 and disable the Nikon D750 Builtin wifi ?

Yes, it only does not work with the built in wireless.
Same is also true for other Nikon DSLR with built in wireless and even for the Canon EOS 70D

Yes I tried it with the canon 70D builtin wifi and had to use the mr-3040 to get it to work .
Now at least the owners of the Nikon D750 know how to get movie recording working .
