Issue with LRT on iOS (iPad) and on Mac OSX Yosemite

Post by RICOW.de »

Hi,

I have since 1-2 weeks the problem that qdslrdashboard crashes during a timelapse.
It does not matter what settings I use.
I use the programm both at sunrise and at sunset.
It crashes. This problem occurs both shortly after the start of the timelapse, and after a long time, maybe 400-700 images.
Camera auto shutdown is off.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Thank-You

What DSLR do you use?
What parameters are set in LRT (slowest shutter speed) ?
Do you use the internal interval timer or an external one?
What interval do you use?

Canon 6D
i use different parameters, depending on the weather and the time
mostly i use id for sunset but for sunrise to.
slowest shutter speed was 1/50 (iso 100) i think and then up to 15 or 30 sec with max. iso 250-500
i used the internal interval timer from qdslrdashboard for sunset and sunrise
interval is different it depending on the clouds.
mostly i used 3 sec.

hope that can help you.

i love the programm so much but when you drive 10 times to points thats 1 hour away and the programm crashed after a short time it does not make fun.

I presume you mean your starting shutter speed was 1/50
If you go up to 15 or 30 sec shutter speed that means you must set the slowest shutter speed to this value.
Your interval should be 3-4 sec longer then your slowest shutter speed (depends on DSLR and SD card) so if your slowest shutter speed is 15 sec you would use 18-19 sec as interval.

I think we're talking about past each other :)

i use the auto holy grail function in qdslrdashboard

slowest shutter: 1/50
min iso: 100

max. shutter: 15-30 sec
max. iso: 250-500

qdslrdashboard takes photos every 3 sec.

I used qdslrdashboard i while ago and it everything works fine, no crashes or something else.
I think there is a problem with qdslrdashboard

qdslrdashboard takes photos every 3 sec.
15-30 sec shutter speed is slower then 1/50, so in LRTimelapse your slowest shutter speed should be set to 15 sec or 30 sec.
3 sec interval will work with 1/50 shutter speed but not with 15-30 second shutter speed.
The interval must be 3-4 second longer then your slowest shutter speed (as I already wrote in my previous post).

Oh okay sorry

my slowest shutter speed is 15-30 sec.
my fastest shutter speed is around 1/50 sec.

but I wrote in my first post that are lock times regardless of the errors always occur!

so i think the problem not come from the shutter speed.

And the problem is on MacBook Pro and iPad Mini.

And the problem has only been about 2 weeks.
I guess since the update.
Previously, this problem has never occurred

And in LRT Mode the interval timer is between 3-5 sec.

But back to the topic.
Since I understood fastest and slowest shutter speed. what do you need to? :D

Interval time is not a time between 2 shots. It is a time between 2 following intervals.
qDD tries to take photo on beginning of each interval. If camera is not ready it will crash qDD.

If you set slowest shutter speed to 30s, you need to set interval time to more than 30s, because you need time to write photo to memory card and download it to device, so it might take another few (up to 10) seconds.

Test LRT with setting fixed shutter speed to 30s and interval time to 36s (10 shots should be enough). If it will work than go with interval time set to 35s, and than 34s and so on until it will crash.

You cannot set LRT to take shots with a gap of e.g. 5s and use variable shutter speed.
