D750 MR3040 everything updated to current firmware, new cables, not connecting

Post by protomech »

as subject states:

i own a D750. bought a MR3040, 2 new cables, updated to current dsldashboard firmware. checked with system:software that it was installed. system log gives:

Sep 8 16:46:10 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 3738.610000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 18 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 16:46:10 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 3738.860000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 19 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 16:46:11 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 3739.110000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 20 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 16:46:11 OpenWrt kern.err kernel: [ 3739.530000] usb 1-1: device not accepting address 20, error -71
Sep 8 16:46:11 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 3739.650000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 21 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 16:46:12 OpenWrt kern.err kernel: [ 3740.070000] usb 1-1: device not accepting address 21, error -71
Sep 8 16:46:12 OpenWrt kern.err kernel: [ 3740.070000] hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1

how do i resolve this? i would much rather use dd than built in wifi. or will i experience the same performance either way?

How long are the USB cables? Can you try with the cable that you got with the D750?
Do you connect to the MR3040 full size USB port without using any sort of USB OTG adapter?
Eventually try and do another firmware update with the sysupgrade image following this guide: https://dslrdashboard.info/tp-link-mr30 ... e-upgrade/

.5m and 1.5m I did.

I did. with both cables. did not work.

yes: Image

done. your sysupgrade image is based on 12.9.1 version of openwrt. the factory image is based on 14.07.

i still get:

Code: Select all

Sep 8 15:44:18 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 28.130000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 15:44:18 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 28.380000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 15:44:19 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 28.630000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 15:44:19 OpenWrt kern.err kernel: [ 29.050000] usb 1-1: device not accepting address 4, error -71
Sep 8 15:44:19 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 29.170000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 15:44:20 OpenWrt kern.err kernel: [ 29.590000] usb 1-1: device not accepting address 5, error -71
Sep 8 15:44:20 OpenWrt kern.err kernel: [ 29.590000] hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
I suspect: for one reason or another, the MR3040 cannot connect to the camera. (not enough power supplied to camera?) But I dont how how to fix this. Camranger says their product is compatible with D750. I wonder how they got it to work.

I tried installing your factory bin: DDServer OpenWrt MR3040 V2 Factory 0.13, and installing package through your instructions, but it would not install.
I also tried upgrading to 15.05 and installing package through your instructions, but it would not install:

Code: Select all

ash: /etc/init.d/ddserver: not found
No packages removed.
Installing ddserver (0.2-13) to root...
Collected errors:
 * satisfy_dependencies_for: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for ddserver:
 *      libusb-1.0 *    uclibcxx *
 * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package ddserver.
ash: /etc/init.d/ddserver: not found
seems like what you're asking everyone to do is get their device to convert to openwrt, then use your sysupgrade image to downgrade to 12.9.71 image with ddserver pre-installed. and newer versions of openwrt use different libraries, that ddserver package cannot access. So the package installation method is outdated.

Still with openwrt 14 and 15, with or without ddserver, the MR3040 cannot connect to the camera. I have connected the camera to my PC and opened dslrdashboard with no issues, so it is not the camera's usb port.

Here is with the latest OpenWrt version (this is for MR3040 V2)

factory: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxMZ8X ... sp=sharing
sysupgrade: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxMZ8X ... sp=sharing

Eventually you can try using a powered USB hub to see if it is power related.
