qDDB not connecting

Post by nscherneck »

Zoltan,

I'm not able to connect qDDB to my camera. Here's what I'm using:

Canon Rebel t5i
TP-LINK MR3040 with OpenWRT properly installed
Kindle Fire (1st Generation) with N2Aos installed (Android KitKat)
qDSLRDashboard v0.2.6

I've got the Kindle Fire connected to the DDServerAP wifi but when trying to connect to the camera qDDB just states "Searching for DDServer" and never connects. I'm able to connect to the camera from my iPhone 4 (running qDDB v0.2.5) and my Windows PC (running qDDB v0.2.6) but not the Kindle Fire.

Sidenote: I would like to have the tablet working as my iPhone crashes when attempting LRT Holy Grail and I do not want to bring the laptop in the field.

Any thoughts on the connection issue?

Can you access the OpenWrt web interface (http://192.168.1.1 by default) from your Kindle Fire browser?
If you can, under System->Software do you have ddserver package, what version it is?
Connect your DSLR to MR3040 turn it on and in OpenWrt web interface check Status->System log
You should have something like this:

Code: Select all

Mar 9 19:13:21 Arduino kern.info kernel: [2885771.420000] usb 1-1.1.4.3: new high-speed USB device number 15 using ehci-platform
Mar 9 19:13:21 Arduino kern.info kernel: [2885771.670000] usb 1-1.1.4.3: New USB device found, idVendor=04a9, idProduct=323b
Mar 9 19:13:21 Arduino kern.info kernel: [2885771.670000] usb 1-1.1.4.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
Mar 9 19:13:21 Arduino kern.info kernel: [2885771.670000] usb 1-1.1.4.3: Product: Canon Digital Camera
Mar 9 19:13:21 Arduino kern.info kernel: [2885771.670000] usb 1-1.1.4.3: Manufacturer: Canon Inc.
Do you have it?
Did you try long pressing the 'Network' button and entering 192.168.1.1 as IP address and then pressing the 'Connect' button?

Zoltan, thank you for the quick reply.

ddserver is present under System>Software. It is version 0.2-13

As for the system log, here are the last three lines which come up after connecting then powering on the camera...

Code: Select all

Sep 8 15:51:17 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 445.280000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using ehci-platform
Sep 8 15:52:35 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 523.630000] usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 2
Sep 8 15:52:44 OpenWrt kern.info kernel: [ 531.990000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-platform

Zoltan, I think this is resolved. I wasn't aware of the 'long press' option. With this the app connected to the camera. Much thanks!

Zoltan, one last thing. I took the Kindle out to test last night and had a different problem. The app connects just fine now, however when using the LRTimelapse auto holy grail the app crashes right after making a shutter speed adjustment. It happened every time it made the adjustment. It worked out ok, because I was able to restart the app in time for it to make the next adjustment, but it would be nice to not have to be on the tablet as much.

What interval did you use and what was the slowest shutter speed?
Did you use the qDD interval timer or an external one?

30s interval using an external intervalometer. The slowest shutter speed was 6s.

Zoltan, I don't mean to be a pest, but any idea why the app crashes after making the shutter adjustment? I'm using 30s interval using an external intervalometer. The slowest shutter speed was 6s.

That works great. Went out last night and shot a sunset HG with it. Thanks for your support!
