I am haveing difficulty with the firmware upgrade through lack of knowledge when I browsed for the new firmware in my downloads and clicked it when it came into the update firmware window at tp-link it took folder location as well as the dd/server firmware even I could see this did not look right so do I have to open the folder first if so how do I do that. My knowledge of this kind thing is as you can see very limited plus I only just came from windows 7 To 10 and what I learnt in 7 seems to be of no use in windows 10 its so different.

There are no folders and no ddserver firmware. For MR3040 firmware is in one file.

So there is no folder and no ddserver fimware ddserver_openwrt-tl-mr3040-v2-squshfactory_0.13(1).bin this is how it is written in my downloads am I right in asumeing that that is a bin file well I do not know what a bin file is I thought that was the firmware that is why I wrote ddserver fimware hopeing you could work out what I meant and the folder I am talking about is the containing folder the bin file is in. I know that I am not a PC wizard but that does not mean that I am an idiot either so I will tell you again when I click browse in the tp-link firmware update window and I go to the bin file and click on it then click open it takes the file and the containing folder with it to the update window as I said I do not think with my limted knowledge that that is right or is it I do not know that is why I come to you for your help all I want to know is how do I get the firmware to the update window.

Don't try to explain thing you absolutely don't understand.
FW is a specific software for a device. ddserver an application that is a part of such FW.

Do what manuals tell you and don't think what is what.
