D500 and S6 Active Field Monitor

Post by acrane7 »

I was hoping to use this app to enable my S6 Active as a field monitor while shooting video. I cant seem to figure out how to record video with this attached, is this even possible?

With WiFi you cannot record movies - it is written in camera manual.
Recording movies is possible only when camera is connected with USB cable.

Actually in case of D500 movie recording will work with wireless connection.
Only problem is that you need to use Snapbridge to activate wireless.

I have it connected via USB and anytime I hit the record button it does nothing.

I stopped trying to connect via SnapBridge because it takes so long to connect. It is faster for me to pull out my USB cables and connect the camera that way then load the DSLRDashboard app. Can you connect to the DSLRDash app via wifi or snapbridge? I guess before that question is answered, is it possible to use the this app to allow me to use my Samsung S6 Active as a field monitor?

I believe I solved my problem, I believe when I originally had my camera connected it wasnt in movie mode on the live view switch. It seems to work now and I am able to record.
