WIFI vs. USB connection (Android to Canon)

I have:
Canon 6D
Android LG V10

Is USB or WIFI connection preferable when doing holy grail timelapse? Perhaps there's a transfer speed or cpu usage difference with one connection over the other?

It might be in my head but I seem to get occasional laggy shutter releases when I'm on wifi but I haven't tested USB connection too extensively (read: too lazy to carry around extra cables).

Technically, data/commands will transfer faster via wire.
