I have the LG G6 and have the camera connected via wifi.
On my Nikon d7200 I have full function. All settings and even able to pick my focus spot.

Now I just got the Sony A7iii and I have limited functionality and no auto focus. Am I missing something or is there limited function on the A7iii. I have tried play memories and cannot focus with that.

Only functions that Sony added to the 'Smart remote control' camera application are available.
Sony didn't add such focus controls that Nikon and Canon have.

Is there a reason why Sony is lacking in those options for this model btw?

That only Sony can answer.
It is not related to this model but the 'Smart remote control' camera application that all models use for communication.
