How to connect Canon Camera to the android app

I have the android version of qdslrdashboard, but I'm struggling with setting up the wireless connection to my canon cameras (Canon EOS 80d and Canon EOS R). Which settings should I use on my camera exactly? I can connect to a computer, a smartphone, ...

Connect to smartphone
Then connect your Android device wireless to the EOS R wireless
Finally start qDslrDashboard and press the 'Canon wireless' button

Thanks for the information! I did succeed in connecting using an old Samsung Galaxy Tab (running Android 8.1) tablet. On my phone, a Nokia 8 running Android 9, I can not connect... qdslrdashboard tells that it is trying to connect, but after a while I get the message that no Canon Camera was found.

Is this a problem with my Nokia phone or with the Android 9 version?
