Connecting Canon cameras to qDslr Dashboard

Post by Jeremy in Sydney »

As I couldn't find qDslr Dashboard on the Apple App Store (for use on my iPhone) I went out and purchased an Android Lenovo E7 to run the app. I've downloaded version 3.6.0 but sadly have not been able to connect to either my Canon 5D MkIII or 5D MkIV. With both cameras I used a USB-USB 3.0 Keystone Insert to link the USB cables together. Is this maybe the issue? Do I need to have a USB OTG cable like Gunther from LRTimelapse suggests?

Also, I could not get qDslr dashboard to see the 5D MkIV via the camera WiFi. I have the latest firmware on the camera body. Can anyone help with instructions on how to do this?

Thank you so much :-)

On Android devices you must use an USB OTG adapter.
Android_device <= USB OTG <= USB cable <= camera

For wireless connection:
- activate mobile wireless connection on your camera
- connect your Android device wreielss to your camera wireless
- start qDslrDashboard and press the 'Canon wireless' button
* be sure that no other device is connecting to the camera wireless
* be sure that Canon software is no running in the background.

Hi Hubaiz,

Thanks for your reply to my post. One more thing, do you know when this app will be available again for IOS devices in Australia? I can't find qDslr Dashboard or MyCameraControl anywhere in the Apple App store. Thank you. Jeremy
