Shoot Raw+JPG, xfer only JPG from cam to qdd?

Post by teetime »

I'm shooting with a Nikon D750. I need Raws for my project but would like to xfer only the smaller JPG for preview on my Android phone. Is there a way to do this?

Yes, set camera to any of the RAW+JPG format (basic will be faster) and enable in qDD options enable 'image review'

Hi,

I have the same issue for a D800.

I guess what teetime wanted is to have the Raw file stay on the camera SD card, and only transfer the jpg file.
I have tried your proposed settings, and both Raw and JPG files are transferred.

I have played with "Capture to Android / Review JPG image after capture / Review RAW image after capture" settings.
Whatever I select, both RAW and JPG files are downloaded to android.

As D800 Raw files are huge, and my tablet memory limited to 16Go (for system, data and apps), I really wish I could leave the big files in the camera, and just transfer a small JPG file to android.

Any idea on how to solve this.

Thanks,

I guess you are using the old DslrDashboard that I don't maintain anymore.
The new qDslrDashboard only has one image review option and it will transfer and display:
the JPG file if format on camera is set to RAW+JPG or JPG
the RAW file if format on camera is set to RAW

If the qDD capture button is long pressed it turns red, in this case the images are transfered to controlling device regardless of the image review option.

Hubaiz,

Thanks a lot for your fast answer.
Yes I had the Google Play version.
I found the qDD and will give it a try.

Thanks again, :D

Wait, which is the current version? Is it the one listed here: http://dslrdashboard.info/downloads/ which says version 0.2.9

or the Google Play version here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... oard&hl=en which says version 0.30.33?

Or is it neither of those? I'm so confused. Where can I d/l the current android ARM version?

thanks

In Google Play you have year old DSLRDashboard.
qDSLRDashboard is a new one. Actually there is 0.3 beta9 (0.2.9 files need to be downloaded as well)

Ok thanks.

So the 0.2.9 is the latest release version, and 0.3 beta 9 is the latest beta? I'll ditch the one I got from Google Play and grab the new production release from this site then.

Thanks again!!!

I only see RAW + jpg large fine in options for my Canon 700D, there are other jpg modes but no small size combined with RAW, I'm guessing this is a camera limitation?

Works very well for me, qDSLR with Raw+jpg on Nikon D3300 and Nexus 5.

I don't see the option to delete the jpeg on device and camera after review as in the old version.
Have you removed it or am I just missing it?

This is a great program. Well worth donating a few bucks too.
