Have fun.

Hi,
yes, do it. The Odroid-C1 is great. Community is good. But maybe dd server also runs on your U3? I don't own it, so I can't tell you if it works.
Thanks for your fascinating and very helpful software.
Is it possible to send commands to the dd server via bash commandline, a kind of headless communication?
Thanks.

Don't think, you must open a TCP connection to it, fetch the connect DSLR list and then establish a connection with the DSLR device.
It is only a proxy server that forwared PTP packets over network.

So I think it would be easier to do it with http://www.gphoto.org/proj/gphoto2/, which can be run from command line and can be easily used for scripting. So you can use qdslrDashboard for easy previewing and gphoto2 for fast production. It supports a lot of cameras http://www.gphoto.org/proj/libgphoto2/support.php
