iOS standby shooting

Hi there,

if possible, it would be nice to be able to go to standby mode (have the display switched off) on the iOS version with the ipad (ipad mini 2 / iOS 8.1.3) while shooting. It really drains the battery quite hard on the retina screens. Is this even possible with iOS, because I know from the Android version, that you can switch off the tablet while shooting and it still continues. For instance on the ipad if I close the magnetic cover, qdslrdashboard stops communicating with the camera and aborts my LRT holy grails.

Right now I don't know a way to make this work.
Maybe iOS 9 will bring this functionality.
