I am thinking of purchasing qDslrDashboard for use with my Nikon D800 wirelessly.
I believe the Nikon WU-1a is not officially supported for the Nikon D800 and general wireless control.
But does the WU-1a work with the Nikon D800 for use with qDslrDashboard (there seem to be several references to the WU-1a on the site)?
Or Do I have to purchase a TP-Link mr3040, which seems in short supply and very expensive in the UK?
I plan to control my D800 wirelessly on the top of a 24' mast.
So the WU-1a is desirable as plugging straight in to the D800 whereas the mr3040 needs attaching somewhere separately - a slight nuisance.
On the other hand a WU-1a drains the camera battery directly - does anybody know typical D800 + WU-1a battery life controlled by qDslrDashboard?
If the WU-1a is no good on the D800, and I can't get a mr3040, has anybody used the mr3020 on a D800 with an external battery (which one)?
Thanks
