CHDK smooth exposure changes for time-lapse.

Post by c_joerg »

Hello Zoltan,

I’m really impressed what you are doing. I make a lot of time-lapse but most with Canon cameras with CHDK running on it. With CHDK, the exposure time and ISO values can be change in 1/96 EV steps.
So the exposure can be adjusted quite smoothly between images without generating jumps.

I would expect, that my Canon DSLR can internal the same.
Do you think this could be possible with DslrDashboard?
How the interface does to the Camera looks like? Do you send ISO values or APEX96 values?

Edit: Wrong link

Greats Joerg

Controlling camera with USB is different than with internal software.
With USB you are limited to options offered by camera and its USB protocol so you cannot do anything other than Canon allows.

Do you try it? The guys from CHDK have also not believed it before they have tried it…

But how the interface looks like for example sending 1s exposure time? A string, a value in us or just an index? Is there any description about the interface?
