Ok, I have re-flashed the router multiple times. I have tried 3 different cables all of which work in other situations (external hd to computer, camera to computer etc) and still the same error.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Have you checked if ddserver is running on router ??
And cable might work with other devices but it still can be bad and won't work with camera and MR3040.
But if you still cannot connect I would look ad hardware problems with router or camera.
Firts check if camera cancan sustain stable USB connection with computer.

I'm having the same problem. Works perfectly with all 7 USB cables I've tried direct to my 70D, but the TP Link will only give me a connection to the camera maybe 1 out of 12-15 reboots, and when the router does connect to the camera, most of the time as soon as I open the program, it causes the camera to loose the connection to the camera.
I've re-flashed both the system and upgrade firmware twice, no luck. I'm thinking there is a problem with the firmware?
