The solution it to upgrade your camera to higher model.
D3x00 does not support remote manual focusing.

Nikon D700 + mr3040 + iPhon(qDD v 0.3.4)e - can't change the focus rectangle position by touching the live view image surface.
I'll try in iPad when come home...
