Cathy, I assume by "try a long press when the ip box comes up" refers to pressing on the usb icon which I have done without anything happening.
USB Host Check uses different mode. The "fix" button can work only on rooted system.

There is no IP in USB connection.

Hello,
I tried another app - DSLR Remote Control - and it had no problem identifying the Nikon D5300, focusing and capturing images both normally and with LiveView. This was done through a usb otg cable.
This would seem to point to a bug in qDD.

I've checked today if qDD works on SGS5 and it works without any problems.
I had phone with latest Android version but rooted with some original apps turned off. So if you have any issues they are probably software related.

My Samsung Galaxy S5 is one month old so it should have the latest Android version. What were the original apps that you turned off?
I do not understand why usb works with another camera controlling app interacting with my Nikon D5300 and qDD does not.

Android has few ways to connect to USB devices. Other apps might use different way than qDD.
You might check if switching "Use Android native USB access" in qDD setting solves your problem.

I already tried, "Use Android native USB access" with and without Nikon high speed transfer.
What were the original apps that you turned off? Presumably they are included with the phone on purchase.

Don't know what was turned off. Friend has SGS5 with him so I've tested qDD.
I could ask but don't think he will know also as he was just fixing broken screen.

I tried a factory reset on the Samsung S5 - that did not make the usb connection work. I tried Android native with & without Nikon high speed transfer. Those changes did not make the usb connection work either.
