D800 does NOT connect via USB to Windows 8.1 Surface Pro 3

Hi folks,
I used my macbook to controll my D800 tethered through qdsldahsboard. Now I'm trying the exactly same thing on my surface pro 3. But qdslrdashboard does not connect to the D800 which is connected via USB. Nevertheless qdslrdashboard connects the D800 via TPLink-Wifi on BOTH machines. Any ideas? anyone? please help.
