Focus point problem

I've just started using qDslrDashboard with a Nikon D3200 which has a WU-1a wireless adaptor.
I have the app installed on both an LG-V500 tablet running Android 4.4.2, and also on a Google Nexus 4 Smartphone running Android 5.1.1.
The main problem I have encountered is that regardless of which mode I have the camera set on, I cannot change the focal point by tapping the Live View screen. There is a green focal area box showing, but this always remains in the same place and never moves. The fact that this happens on both the tablet and the phone leads me to suspect that the problem may be with the camera settings, rather than the qDslrDashboard app, but I can't figure out what the problem is.
The second issue I have is that despite having read through the manual, I'm still a bit puzzled as which mode settings on the camera enable/disable the various controls on qDslr, specifically shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Is there a guide anywhere which shows which functions are enabled/disabled in any of the M, A, S, and P modes? (Update: It seems that I can control everything as I would expect if I switch from Live View to Camera Mode, but I'm still not sure about the way things behave in Live View).
If any of these questions make me sound like a floundering newbie ..... there's a very good reason for that.
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

Hi, Not 100% sure here but!!
I use a Canon 6D and a 600D and to move the focus point on my Nexus 7 I tap and hold on the screen to allow the software to catch up on what I want it to do (I do use a screen pen rather than a finger).
As for your second question there is manual
http://dslrdashboard.info/documentation/
Again on the Nexus 7 the shutter speed ISO etc is shown on screen at bottom left in live view tap on the one you want to change.
DSLR Dashboard does have a lot of options built and I found the best way to learn what I needed was to just sit down, turn it on along with the camera and investigate what does what!!

Thanks for the ideas Russ. I tried using a screen pen, but sadly that didn't improve things. I also tried holding the touch on the screen to see if that helped, but, again, no joy. This is a real mystery, as it definitely seems to be only me that's experiencing the problem. I can find no other reports of similar problems anywhere on this forum.
I wonder is there anyone out there who has this focussing feature working on a Nikon D3200, if so, I might be able to PM them to check what setting they use for the camera and dslrdashboard.
As for the other issues: I have got a copy of the manual downloaded and have been working my way through it. Using this, and through a process of trial and error, I've got just about every other feature working, so the focus problem is the only thing still unresolved.

Just a thought but do you have back button focus set on the camera?

I've tried with back button focus both off and on, but it makes no difference.
If it's an added clue, I also noticed that apart from the touch focus not working, the +/- zoom buttons are also inactive.
I just know that this is going to prove to be something dumb, caused by a camera setting. I can't see that the fault is with the app though, because why else would the same problem appear on two separate Android devices?

D3x00 series is not supported by Nikon API and has limited remote capability.
Some functions just won't work or need special commands that are known to Nikon only.
If you have Windows PC try digiCamControl if those functions work there. It's similar application but for windows only.
Edit:
Found on digiCamControl site that you cannot set AF point in LV also so it's camera limitation and not problem with qDD.
Link to D3200 info on digoCam:
http://digicamcontrol.com/supported_cameras/d3200
In comments you have info that LV remote manual focus (arrows), AF point and recording video do not work.

Very interesting, thanks. The only thing that puzzles me is that even if the focus point does not actually alter the focus on the D3200, would you not expect that when the screen is touched, the focus area box would move, even though the camera would not respond? And would the same also apply to the screen zoom feature?

I'd guess that the position of the focus rectangle is one of the camera's properties and cannot be moved in the app independently.
The whole AF algorithm in LV is handled entirely in the camera and not by the app. So it wouldn't make sense anyway to move the rectangle in the app without doing anything to camera.

OK. Many thanks to everyone who took the trouble to solve this mystery. Much appreciated.
I plan to upgrade from the D3200 to a D7100 in the New Year, so hopefully these issues will not reoccur.
If the Mods read these posts, it might be an idea to include some reference in the manual to the AF limitation in certain camera models. It would certainly help others who may come across the same issue.

Hello,
a couple of days ago I started using "qdslrdashboard" with a Nikon D3200 (with WiFi-Adapter WU-1a). So far, the program works fine; big thanks to the developer!
My main interest for the setup is macro-photgraphy using focus stacking. Unfortunately the remote control of focus doesn´t work. Is this part of the above mentioned "Focus Point Problem" or is there a solution for this? I am sure I could move the focus manually, but it seems more convenient with remote control.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Best regards
Kurt
