I have the hardware mentioned in the subject and installed the latest version of qDslrDashboard. However, the software doesn't detect the camera, wether it's connected via wifi or USB cable.
Is there anything I missed out on in the manual?
OS X El Capitan & Nikon D5300

USB won't work - blame Apple.
WiFi has to work if you have done every thing correctly.
But no one here is clairvoyant so won't tell you what have you missed or done wrong.

For USB check this post: http://dslrdashboard.info/phpBB3/viewto ... ?f=5&t=643
Is your PC also connected with wired network? If yes then there is maybe an IP conflict, by default Nikon wireless has 192.168.1.1 as IP.

Found the problem: Hadn't realised the camera has it's own network (is that in the manual?). Working like sunshine now.
Thanks for the replies anyway!

Every WiFi is usually it's own network. It's common knowledge.
Also Nikon has made only mobile app that uses WiFi so there cannot be any IP conflicts.

If it was "common knowledge" I wouldn't have asked my question, wouldn't I?
