I bought an android tablet from Amazon and it was incompatible with the qdslrdashboard app can you help with compatible tablets. I am now looking at an asus google nexus 7 but the reviews are not good.

Nexus7 will work fine (2012 or 2013 to)
I bought on Amazon the nVidia Shield K1 tablet for 200eur that works perfect.

I use a Nexus 7 and a LENOVO tab a8 and looking on Ebay you can pick the LENOVO tab a8 for around £50.00 used.

I can recommend Lenovo A10-70 (A7600), A8-50 (A5500) or A7-30 (A3500).
Few months back I've bought new A7600H (3G model) for ~$100 (+VAT).
Not as fast as Nexus 7 but for qDD those are pretty good.
