Movement trigger

Would it be possible detect movement in an area of the live view screen and use it to trigger a single shot, multiple shots or a time lapse sequence?
I also support the Idea.
Actually I had a solution for that. The Panasonic cameras shutter can be controlled via wired remote control switch. I made a setup where there was a webcam based motion detection program running on raspberry pi (called motion) that controlled a relay switch via GPIO when the motion is detected and that triggered the shutter.
A TTL solution on Nikon cameras would be really cool.
