if i understand it correctly, the tplink solution with DDserver will not work on a sony camera, because the sony's app 'smart remote' will use it's own wifi connection to send and receive data and the use of this app is mandatory. is there any trick to go around this and use the tplink box with an A7R2?

thinking a bit out of the box: another idea would be to use the tplink as a signal amplifier for the weak camera wifi connection. as i am not a geek, anyone with a tip how to achieve this with some tips how to setup the box in this case?

I remember tplink3020 has a repeater mode, you can try that setting.

With Sony camera the TP-Link solution will not work, you must connect your controlling device wireless with the Sony camera wireless.
