Long exposure on Nikon D3300

Hi, I'm not able to use longer exposures than 30 seconds on my Nikon D3300.
Is this a limitation due to the fact that D3300 is a budget model?
Has anyone else been able to use longer exposures?

Still using verion 0.2.6, planning to upgrade to 0.2.8 when it is available.

I presume yes.
The bulb mode will only work if the command for it is available on the connected DSLR.

On my D3300 I am able to set the Bulb mode using the Camera Properties setting Exposure to Bulb.
And when I press the Capture button I get a dialog asking for the Bulb time, so far so good. But when I then press Capture nothing happens. :(

Yes you can set shutter speed to BULB but the camera will not perform the capture as it is not supported by camera.
