CF card corrupted, images gone

I run qDslrDashboard_V3.5.5_Linux_x64 on a Ubuntu laptop, connected to a Canon 5D Mark II via USB.

Today, after shooting for about 10 minutes on a good CF card, the camera stopped responding to the software, although the USB connection was still live. I went over to the camera and its screen said Err: Card not formatted.

I've been unable to recover any of the images that were on the card.

Here's the log from the session: https://paste.ee/p/lP4zj

It is the camera that writes to the CF card not qDslrDashboard.

I have the exact same issue when shooting tethered with the Mac version 3.5.3 and my Canon 5D III in interval timer mode. I can reproduce the problem. I never have any problems with my CF cards when shooting just with the camera.

Yeah -- I just tried this again in interval mode (with a different card) and the error happened again.

Is there any debugging data I can provide that will help?

How are you capturing? Just simple capture and display the latest JPG image?
Interval timer with LrTimelapse?
In case of interval timer what is the interval and what is the shutter speed?
Do you use the qDslrDashboard interval timer or an external interval timer?

I was using the qDslrDashboard interval timer set to a 9-second interval and 1/250 shutter. No timelapse.

It was just simple capture as far as I know -- what are the alternatives?
