Ipad 3 or 4 and qdslr / control my camera

Hello,
For my first post i would like to ask does anybody have experience with ios version of the app and ipad 3 or 4?
Most important thing would be the speed (performance) and option to transfer only jpg files (something i simply cannot do on android).
I dont own a tablet, frankly dont have an use for it except for controlling my camera.
An used ipad 3/4 seems like a good deal so therefore im interested in what kind of performance (taken in consideration that it is an older model) I can expect out of it.
