Is OTG adaptor needed for pure USB-C connection?

Hi folks,

I am wondering, it an OTG adaptor needed when the connection on both ends is USB C? My use-case is connecting a Nikon Z6 to a Samsung S9.

Will this work with just a standard USB-C to USB-C cable or is a host adaptor still needed?

If the adaptor is needed, can anyone link to one that is known to work? I can only find USB type A ones.

Thanks!

Yes you need an OTG adapter for Android devices, it is not related to the connector.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure because I know the USB-C protocol allows for more intelligent host negotiation so devices can be both host and slave at the same time.

I cannot find any USB-C to USB-C OTG adaptors on the market. So do I get a USB-A to USB-C OTG adaptor then use a USB-A to USB-C cable on the other end?

That's the way I use it.
