Hi,
Desired purpose of the app is to provide an iPad Air 2 as field monitor while filming with Canon 6D.
I have dowloaded the app and I can connect but when I switch the 6D to movie mode I get the *normal* "movie recording is disabled when wifi is set to enable".
What am I missing here? Is the app only useful for stills?

You are missing that in normal use, with no tablet or anything IF you enable Wifi movie recording will be disabled... so I dont see why it would be any different if you connect anything over WiFi

If you want to record movies using iDevices you need to use WiFi router with USB (TP-Link MR3040, HAME MPR-A2, etc) which is connected to camera by USB.
Canon and Nikon do not allow to use built-in WiFi while recording movies.
